Hobbies and Interests

A considerable amount of my free time I commit to sports of different kinds. Most regularily I play Squash, work out in the gym, go running and swimming. Lately, I have also started to play Golf (Member at Glenlo Abbey Golf Course in Galway) and most of my free weekends are currently spent on the Golf course. Being born in Innsbruck, I grew up with the surrounding mountains and as such I love to ski whenever I am back to Austria.

I further like to travel and being in academia certainly helps to combine this passion with my work. As I live in Ireland, I often travel to the continent on weekends to get the buzz of bigger cities. I am passionate about design, manage the website of our institute (www.deri.ie) and have been editor of our institute's newsletter. Currently I am also involved in the preparation for a rallye I want to participate in with a couple of friends in 2010. More information on this endeavour can be found at www.allgäu-orient.com.
